Northern Policy Institute is Northern Ontario's independent think tank. We develop and promote research, evidence and policy opportunities to support the growth of sustainable Northern Ontario communities.

Our operations are located in Thunder Bay, Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie to enhance Northern Ontario's capacity to take the lead position on socio-economic policy that impacts Northern Ontario and Canada as a whole.

The work of Northern Policy Institute targets six priority areas: 1) Indigenous peoples 2) Communities 3) Demographics 4) Economy 5) Environment 6) Infrastructure

Northern Policy Institute's mission is to develop and promote proactive, evidence-based and purpose driven policy options that deepen understanding about the unique challenges and opportunities of Northern Ontario and advance the sustainable development and long-term prosperity of Northern Ontario.
