Hybrid in Calgary, in-office Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
Geospatial architecture, software, tools, and data are critical to The Public Sector Client of TEKsystems’s technology ecosystem, supporting more than 5,000 employees. The Corporate Geospatial Strategy and related documents guide geospatial technology alignment, investment, and implementation across the organization and must be updated regularly to reflect business planning cycles, vendor technology changes, corporate priorities, and IT-led strategies. The Geospatial Architect will update the Corporate Geospatial Technology documents for the 2027–2030 business cycle, aligning them with Council priorities, the Corporate Technology Plan, Enterprise Data Strategy, and Esri vendor strategy through organizational input, current-state analysis, and industry expertise.
This role will be a 15-month contract, that will only work three times a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday), where the following will be required:
Full documentation and formal presentation of an environmental scan and analysis including: current state of geospatial technology and strategies at The
Public Sector Client of TEKsystems and the technology ecosystem current state of the geospatial industry, other municipalities and vendors (specifically Esri) and emerging technologies related to geospatial technology Identification of other influencing factors on the future of geospatial technology and architecture at The Public Sector Client of TEKsystems (i.e. Budget, Council Priorities)
Complete and publish final documentation for the 2027-2030 cycle:
- Corporate Geospatial Technology Strategy
- Corporate GIS Technology Plan
- Corporate Aerial Imagery and 3D Technology Plan
- Corporate FME Technology Plan
- Ensure alignment with exiting overarching architecture and
- technology plans for IT. Update the Geospatial Technology placemat in the
- Corporate Technology Plan Enterprise Platform Portal with the new 2027-2030 content.
Provide overall guidance, insight and recommendations on strategic direction, functional design, key IT integration touchpoints, and program service delivery for the organization to assist with technology and platform investment, operations and strategic decision making for the next four year business cycle and beyond.
Essential Skills
- Ten (10) years working experience within the last thirteen (13) years in the role of geospatial technology architect, with the focus on Esri products;
- Ten (10) years' experience overseeing the rollout of a geospatial platform for an organization including centralized, and hub and spoke enterprise implementation models
- Five (5) years' experience leading and coaching at an executive level
Desired Skills
- Previous work experience in the public sector or large organizations;
- Previous experience developing and implementing corporate geospatial technology strategies and plans
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate both internally and externally with personnel at all levels
- Change management support experience when implementing a new geospatial architectural plan
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Calgary, AB.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $100.00 - $120.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
