Job Description & Summary

The Capital Markets Accounting Advisory Services team (“CMAAS”) is a high performing and fast growing practice within PwC Canada and Globally. The team is committed to supporting our clients through moments of exceptional change by providing accounting advice to our clients through acquisitions and divestitures, accounting change, restructuring and capital transactions (e.g., IPOs), and digital transformation projects.

A career within CMAAS will provide you with the opportunity to be responsible for supporting our clients as they navigate some of their most complex financial reporting issues and transactions. You'll tackle client’s needs with a solution-oriented approach that creatively addresses complex accounting and reporting problems for high profile transactions, and you’ll have significant interaction with senior company management, bankers, lawyers and other advisers.

The Opportunity

As a CMAAS Senior Associate, unlock your potential and embrace the chance to drive meaningful outcomes that’ll elevate your career. Your role will include but isn't limited to:

  • Being a member of the team supporting our clients through capital market transactions including IPO readiness, and other market transactions (i.e. BAR Reports, capital raising and pro forma financial statements).
  • Part of the team working with our clients through various accounting change projects including GAAP conversions in contemplation of a transaction, implementation of accounting policy changes, and new accounting standards.
  • Working with our Deals colleagues on the accounting implications of acquisitions and divestitures (i.e. buy side diligence, sell side diligence, valuations, business combinations, consolidation accounting etc.).
  • Responsible for preparing complex accounting calculations, quarterly/annual financial statements, and management reporting to drive insights.
  • Researching technical accounting matters and building your technical accounting knowledge to be applied in practical, client specific scenarios.
  • Preparing accounting whitepapers / diagnostic reports in a structured manner to help clients document their positions for presentation to their auditors and regulators.
  • Collaborate amongst the team to work flexibly and respond promptly to ad hoc requests by clients, taking ownership of your own portfolio of jobs and clients.
  • Focus on the details of the project as well as quality.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues and clients while consistently demonstrating the firm’s Code of Ethics and Business Conduct.
  • Leverage a broad range of analytical tools, techniques, and GenAI solutions to identify insights from emerging business trends, drive value across client projects and internal initiatives, support project delivery, and foster strong client relationships.

What You’ll bring

Your skills, knowledge, and experiences are what set you apart. Here’s what we look for:

  • Proven Technical Expertise: Qualified Canadian CPA or equivalent reciprocal/recognized designation and experience with technical accounting, corporate finance, advisory, or audit roles, with exposure to capital markets transactions, acquisitions/ divestitures, and IPO readiness.
  • Deep Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting standards, regulatory frameworks (IFRS, US GAAP and ASPE), and market practices governing IPOs, capital raisings, and other transactions.
  • Strategic Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret complex financial and business issues, assess risks holistically, and deliver insightful, pragmatic recommendations.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Skilled at articulating complex technical concepts clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences including senior leadership.
  • Leadership, Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor colleagues, and foster a collaborative, client-focused culture.
  • A Desire to Learn and Grow: a coachable, open-minded person dedicated to self-improvement, developing new skills and career development.
  • Client Centricity: Commitment to building trusted, long-term client relationships and delivering exceptional value.
  • A team player: the ability to work independently and on a team in a multi-tasked, fast-paced and changing project-based environment with the flexibility to work overtime where client deadlines are tight.
  • PwC Canada is committed to cultivating an inclusive, hybrid work environment. Exact expectations for your team can be discussed with your interviewer.

This newly created role reflects our commitment to growth and delivering distinctive value for our clients and stakeholders.

Job Posting End Date

We’re committed to providing accommodation throughout the application, interview, and employment process. If you require accommodation to be at your best, please let us know during the application process. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in recruiting is just getting started, so we know you have questions about how and why we use it. At certain points during our recruiting process, we rely on AI to improve your experience. This could be during resume review or curating personalized job recommendations, asking you clarifying questions via a chatbot or during our interview scheduling to improve your experience. Our use of AI helps ensure we combat bias by evaluating candidates equally and fairly, without seeing identity information, such as your name, or gender for example). AI also helps us better predict successful hires by reviewing all applicants for a role and the relationship between your skills, experience and likely success at PwC Canada. While AI supports parts of our recruitment process, final hiring decisions always involve human review. For more information about our use and protection of your data, please refer to our Privacy Policy (https://www.pwc.com/ca/en/privacy-policy.html).Nous tenons à répondre à vos besoins tout au long du processus de demande d’emploi, d’entrevue et d’embauche.
