CAMH’s Institute for Mental Health Policy Research (IMHPR) is seeking a full-time contract (12 months) Research Analyst to assist with a study focused on transgender and gender-diverse youth mental health. The Research Analyst will contribute to a range of research activities across multiple studies, including participant recruitment and data collection; obtaining and maintaining informed consent; administering study questionnaires and interviews; qualitative and quantitative data analysis; and supporting knowledge translation activities. Knowledge translation responsibilities may include developing materials to communicate research findings, such as policy briefs, research reports, infographics, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications. The Research Analyst will also support administrative activities related to youth engagement and ensure that research activities are conducted in accordance with approved study protocols and applicable regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of the unique health, social, and structural inequities affecting transgender and gender-diverse individuals, and 2SLGBTQ+ populations more broadly, and will contribute to research that is community-informed, culturally responsive, and grounded in principles of equity. The successful candidate will work independently while contributing as a member of a multidisciplinary research team and will liaise with community health and housing organizations across Ontario. The Research Analyst will report to a Senior Scientist. This position is located at 250 College Street, Toronto, Ontario.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have completed a bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, public health, or a related field, combined with at least one (1)) year of relevant research and/or clinical experience.
Demonstrated experience conducting research and/or working in partnership 2SLGBTQ+ individuals is required, along with a strong understanding of the health inequities, lived experiences, and social and structural factors affecting diverse 2SLGBTQ+ populations. The successful candidate must demonstrate familiarity with current 2SLGBTQ+ terminology and best practices for culturally safe, affirming, and trauma-informed research.
The successful candidate will have experience contributing to multiple stages of the research process and conducting mixed-methods research. Experience working with large datasets, including survey and/or administrative healthcare data (ICES data) is an asset. Experience with qualitative and quantitative data analysis and the ability to interpret and communicate research findings are required. Familiarity with software such as NVivo, Dedoose, and SPSS is an asset.
This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, well-developed critical thinking abilities, flexibility, initiative, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. The successful candidate will be self-directed, highly detail-oriented, and proactive, with excellent organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
Salary Range: $27.95 – $37.28 per hour
