Calian Antenna Solutions, située à Vaudreuil-Dorion (Québec), conçoit et fabrique une vaste gamme de systèmes d’antennes de grande précision destinés aux communications par satellite, à la radioastronomie, aux applications scientifiques et au secteur de la défense.
Nous sommes actuellement à la recherche d’un Ingénieur principal en conception mécanique. Le candidat retenu dirigera la conception, l’analyse, le développement, la production, la maintenance et l’amélioration de grands systèmes d’antennes. Les projets comprendront notamment la conception et l’analyse de grandes structures mécano-soudées en acier, le dimensionnement et la conception de systèmes d’entraînement, ainsi que la conception de mécanismes de précision plus complexes.
Responsabilités
- Diriger la conception mécanique et structurale à l’aide de logiciels de modélisation 3D.
- Effectuer des analyses structurales à l’aide de la méthode des éléments finis et de calculs classiques.
- Valider et sélectionner les systèmes d’entraînement mécanique.
- Sélectionner les matériaux et les composants mécaniques appropriés.
- Produire des dessins détaillés de pièces et d’assemblages ainsi que les procédures associées.
- Définir les méthodes et procédures de protection contre la corrosion.
- Analyser et vérifier les déformations de la structure des antennes.
- Assurer la liaison technique avec les équipes d’approvisionnement, les fournisseurs et les sous-traitants.
- Fournir un soutien à l’équipe d’intégration des antennes.
Au sein de l’équipe d’ingénierie, vous aurez également à :
- Soutenir la préparation des propositions de projets et des estimations.
- Diriger des projets de recherche et développement (R-D).
- Interagir avec les clients.
- Diagnostiquer et résoudre des problèmes au niveau des systèmes, qu’ils soient ou non liés à la conception mécanique.
- Préparer et présenter des revues de conception.
- Effectuer occasionnellement des déplacements chez des clients aux États-Unis et à l’international.

Qualifications
- Diplôme universitaire en génie mécanique.
- Excellente maîtrise d’un logiciel de CAO (SolidWorks de préférence).
- Minimum de 5 à 7 ans d’expérience avec divers procédés de fabrication (usinage, soudage, tôlerie, matériaux composites, etc.).
- Capacité à produire des dessins de fabrication détaillés, précis et faciles à interpréter.
- Aptitude à mener un projet de conception de l’étape de conception jusqu’à la mise en production, incluant la collaboration avec les équipes d’approvisionnement et la chaîne d’approvisionnement.
- Excellentes aptitudes en analyse, planification et résolution de problèmes.
- Maîtrise de la production de documentation technique.
- Être autorisé à travailler au Canada et être en mesure de satisfaire aux exigences d’une vérification de sécurité.
- Très bonnes compétences en communication en anglais, à l’oral comme à l’écrit.
Atouts
- Expérience dans la conception de grandes structures mécaniques.
- Connaissance des servomoteurs et de leurs systèmes d’entraînement.
- Expérience en analyse par éléments finis (FEA).
- Familiarité avec diverses techniques d’inspection et de mesure.
- Le bilinguisme (français et anglais) constitue un atout; toutefois, la maîtrise de l’anglais est requise. Le candidat retenu devra communiquer régulièrement avec des clients et des intervenants internes situés à l’extérieur du Québec et de l’Ontario, ailleurs au Canada et à l’international. À titre d’organisation mondiale, la capacité de communiquer efficacement en anglais est essentielle afin de soutenir la collaboration, les relations avec les clients et la réalisation des projets.

Position Overview
Calian Antenna Solutions, located in Vaudreuil-Dorion, QC, designs and manufactures a wide range of large precision antenna systems for satellite communications, radio astronomy, science and defense applications.
We are currently seeking a candidate for the position of Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. The successful candidate will lead the design, analysis, development, production, maintenance and upgrades of large antenna systems. Projects will include everything from large steel weldment design and analysis, drivetrain sizing and design, and small intricate mechanisms.
Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical and structural design using 3D modeling software
- Structural analysis using finite element modeling and classical calculations
- Drivetrain design validation and selection
- Selection of materials and mechanical components
- Producing detailed part and assembly drawings and procedures
- Defining corrosion protection methods and procedures
- Analysis and verification of antenna shape deformation.
- Engineering liaison with procurement, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Providing support to the antenna integration team
As Part Of The Engineering Team You Will:
- Support project proposals and estimation.
- Lead R&D projects
- Interface with customers
- Debug system level problems that may or may not be rooted in mechanical design.
- Preparation and presentation of design reviews.
- Occasional travel to customer sites in the US and International
Other duties as required within the context of the role.
Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical engineering
- Mastery of CAD software (Solidworks preferred).
- At least 5-7 years experience with a variety of manufacturing methods (machining, welding, sheet metal, composite, etc.)
- Capable of producing clear and detailed manufacturing drawings
- Able to take designs from the computer all the way to the production floor, including interfacing with procurement and the supply chain
- Good analytical, planning and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with technical documentation production.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and be able to pass a security check.
- Very good communication skills in English, both verbal and written
Assets
- Experience with the design of large mechanical structure
- Knowledge of servo motors and drives
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis
- Familiar with various inspection and measurement techniques
- Bilingual in English and French is an asset, English is required. The successful candidate will regularly communicate with clients and internal stakeholders located outside of Quebec and Ontario, across Canada and internationally. As a global organization, the ability to communicate effectively in the English language is essential to supporting collaboration, client relationships, and project delivery.
Additional Requirements
- Must be eligible for government of Canada Security Clearence
- Must be able to work out of our Vaudreuil-Dorion office
- May be required to travel occasionally within Canada and internationally, as required to support business and project needs.
Compensation
$120,000-$140,000 per annum plus performance based incentives.
