Job Title: Software Engineer
Job Description
This role focuses on developing and enhancing a proprietary robotic control software suite used in autonomous systems. You design and implement modern C++ solutions for robotic control, navigation, and sensor integration, while ensuring high performance, reliability, and real-time responsiveness in safety- and mission-critical environments. You collaborate across engineering disciplines to deliver robust, scalable software that integrates seamlessly with hardware, middleware, and robotic platforms.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement C++ modules for robotic control, navigation, and sensor integration within an autonomous robotic software suite.
- Optimize algorithms for performance, reliability, and real-time responsiveness in safety- and mission-critical environments.
- Collaborate with test engineers to ensure code quality through unit testing using the Google Test framework and thorough integration testing.
- Develop reusable libraries and APIs that support modularity, scalability, and maintainability of the software suite.
- Integrate software components with hardware interfaces, middleware, and various robotic platforms.
- Participate actively in code reviews and promote best practices in modern C++ development.
- Contribute to system-level design discussions and provide input on software architecture and design decisions.
- Document software designs, interfaces, and workflows for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Work across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and design through implementation, testing, and deployment.
- Apply multithreaded programming techniques to build efficient, concurrent, and reliable software components.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of professional experience with object-oriented C++ development, using modern standards (C++14, C++17, or C++20).
- Strong proficiency in Linux-based development environments.
- Proven software design experience, including modular, scalable, and maintainable architectures.
- Hands-on experience with unit testing, preferably using the Google Test framework.
- Experience working across the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), from design through deployment.
- Practical experience with multithreaded programming and concurrent software design.
- Proficiency with Git for version control and collaborative development.
- Ability to design, implement, and optimize algorithms for real-time and mission-critical applications.
- Experience integrating software with hardware interfaces, middleware, and robotic systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience developing software for robotic systems or autonomous platforms.
- Experience in aerospace or defense-related software projects.
- Familiarity with designing reusable libraries and APIs for complex software suites.
- Strong documentation skills for communicating designs, interfaces, and workflows to diverse stakeholders.
- Comfort participating in and contributing to code reviews and architecture discussions.
Work Environment
This position is fully on-site and involves close collaboration with software and test engineers working on advanced autonomous robotic systems. You work in a Linux-based development environment using modern C++ standards and Git for version control, with a strong emphasis on rigorous unit and integration testing. The role supports cutting-edge technology within the defense industry, offering exposure to safety- and mission-critical systems and integration with real hardware and robotic platforms in a professional, engineering-focused setting.
