Job Description
The Project Manager will lead the execution of large, complex industrial equipment and engineered systems projects from initial planning through manufacturing, testing, installation, commissioning, and final delivery.
This role requires a combination of strong project management capabilities and practical mechanical or electrical experience. The successful candidate will coordinate engineering, manufacturing, service teams, suppliers, and customers to ensure custom-engineered solutions are delivered safely and successfully against scope, schedule, quality, and budget requirements.

Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end execution of complex engineered equipment and industrial projects from planning through fabrication, assembly, testing, installation, commissioning, and delivery.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects with significant budgets, ensuring scope, schedule, quality, and financial objectives are achieved.
- Coordinate activities across engineering, manufacturing, service teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and other internal stakeholders.
- Work closely with technical teams to translate custom-engineered designs into practical manufacturing, installation, and commissioning plans.
- Manage project schedules and proactively identify potential delays, constraints, and resource conflicts.
- Coordinate vendor and subcontractor activities and ensure project stakeholders are working from accurate and current information.
- Participate in customer-facing meetings to review project progress, test results, technical requirements, and delivery milestones.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation and disciplined change control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage scope changes, assessing and communicating potential impacts to cost, schedule, resources, and project deliverables.
- Identify and resolve project conflicts while maintaining a calm and solutions-oriented approach.
- Apply continuous improvement principles to improve project execution, reduce inefficiencies, and strengthen delivery processes.
- Collaborate directly with manufacturing, construction, installation, and service teams to address practical execution challenges.
- Support equipment testing and commissioning activities by coordinating test plans, resources, equipment readiness, and required documentation.
- Monitor project risks and issues and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, subcontractors, and customers while promoting accountability, safety, and quality.
Essential Skills
- 5+ years of project management experience involving the build, assembly, installation, commissioning, or maintenance of complex industrial equipment or engineered systems.
- Experience supporting projects involving mechanical, electrical, industrial, or electromechanical equipment.
- Practical experience working around fabrication, manufacturing, assembly, installation, construction, or commissioning activities.
- Strong understanding of the challenges associated with taking custom-engineered equipment from design through build, testing, and final delivery.
- Demonstrated experience managing large, technically complex projects with significant budgets.
- Technical background in engineering, trades, construction, manufacturing, or a related discipline.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills across engineering, operations, suppliers, service teams, and customers.
- Experience within manufacturing, industrial construction, equipment integration, or a similar project-based environment.
- Experience managing project changes and change orders in a structured and controlled manner.
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Comfortable working directly with technical and field teams involved in building, installing, testing, and commissioning equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond effectively to changing project conditions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- PMP certification or equivalent project management credential is considered an asset.
- Experience with industrial power, energy, electrical equipment, or other complex engineered systems is considered an asset.
- Previous hands-on experience in electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, heavy equipment, fabrication, or another industrial environment is advantageous.
- Experience managing custom-engineered or made-to-order equipment projects is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm, organized, and effective in high-pressure project environments.
- Experience applying continuous improvement, Lean, or Six Sigma principles within manufacturing, construction, or industrial operations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for both internal coordination and customer-facing discussions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Interest in continued professional development and long-term career growth.
Work Environment
This role operates within a project-driven industrial environment involving complex engineered equipment and systems. The Project Manager will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, construction, service, supplier, and customer teams throughout the project lifecycle.
The position combines office-based project management with regular interaction with manufacturing, assembly, testing, installation, and commissioning activities. Projects are technically complex and require close attention to schedules, budgets, documentation, change management, quality, and stakeholder coordination.
The environment is fast-paced and highly collaborative, requiring someone who can manage competing priorities while maintaining a practical understanding of how engineered equipment is designed, built, tested, installed, and commissioned.

This is a Contract position based out of Edmonton, AB.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $58.97 - $69.23/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
