Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead a Manufacturing Engineering team within a high-volume, technology-driven manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for overseeing engineering resources, supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, driving process improvements, and partnering with customers and internal stakeholders to develop effective manufacturing solutions. The successful candidate will balance people leadership, technical problem solving, customer engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining a strong presence on the production floor.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a Manufacturing Engineering team consisting of engineers, technicians, and early-career team members.
- Provide hands-on leadership and regularly engage with production personnel to resolve manufacturing and process challenges.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) programs, ensuring products are effectively transitioned from design into production.
- Review customer drawings, specifications, certifications, and technical requirements, converting them into practical manufacturing processes and solutions.
- Develop and implement process improvements, tooling enhancements, automation initiatives, and cost-reduction strategies.
- Act as a technical consultant to customers and internal stakeholders regarding manufacturability, production processes, and operational efficiency.
- Maintain a strong understanding of end-to-end manufacturing operations and leverage this knowledge to improve quality, throughput, and productivity.
- Mentor and develop engineers and technical staff through coaching, performance management, and career development planning.
- Identify capability gaps and establish development plans to strengthen team performance and succession planning.
- Lead Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, productivity, and cost reduction.
- Collaborate closely with production, quality, supply chain, operations, and engineering teams to ensure alignment and successful execution.
- Participate in customer meetings and technical discussions, representing Manufacturing Engineering throughout project and product lifecycles.
- Utilize data, metrics, and performance indicators to assess manufacturing effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support strategic initiatives that contribute to operational excellence, business growth, and long-term manufacturing capabilities.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 10 years of experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably supporting complex technical or electronic products.
- At least 2 years of formal people leadership experience managing engineers, technicians, or technical teams.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing engineering principles, production processes, and operational excellence practices.
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and transferring products into production environments.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, certifications, and technical requirements.
- Experience translating customer and product requirements into manufacturing processes, tooling solutions, automation strategies, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Proven ability to lead and develop technical teams while fostering a positive and high-performing culture.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with experience resolving factory-level manufacturing challenges.
- Solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and problem-solving methodologies.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with both internal teams and external customers.
- Hands-on leadership style with a willingness to spend significant time supporting production operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience working with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or equivalent platforms.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement certifications.
- Experience implementing automation, tooling, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
- Proven record of improving productivity, throughput, equipment utilization, quality, and manufacturing costs.
- Experience supporting high-growth manufacturing operations with demanding production schedules and customer requirements.
- Strong customer-facing experience supporting manufacturing strategy, product launches, and operational improvements.
- Background in electronics manufacturing, precision manufacturing, contract manufacturing, or other complex production environments is considered a strong asset.
Work Environment
This is a fully on-site leadership role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The position requires regular engagement on the production floor, working closely with engineering, quality, operations, supply chain, and production teams. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will interact frequently with customers, support new product introduction programs, and lead continuous improvement initiatives that impact business performance. The environment is collaborative, technically challenging, and focused on innovation, operational excellence, employee development, and long-term growth.

Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $135000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
